ST. GEORGE APPLE FEST THIS WEEKEND!

St. George Apple Fest runs September 16th and 17th this year (2017) throughout the downtown of St. George.  A good co-ordinate to plug into your GPS is the St. George Museum and Archives at 36 Main Street South which is right in the heart of the action and near the Main Stage.  The Museum will be open with extended hours on the weekend and our South Dumfries Historical Society will be selling its famous Apple Crisp as a fundraiser for our activities: available in single-serve bowls and take-home trays. Look for our booth with the cheery Apple pattern table cloths out front of the Museum!

100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF VIMY RIDGE
Commemoration Ceremony April 9, 2017 in St. George

Please join Branch 605, Royal Canadian Legion, St. George, and the South Dumfries Historical Society, as we commemorate the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge.

By April 12, 1917 Canada had suffered 11,000 casualties including 4,000 who made the supreme sacrifice.

The special Vimy Ridge ceremony takes place the actual day of the battle, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the cenotaph.

Preceding the ceremony will be a short parade from the Fire Hall down to the Cenotaph featuring the Paris-Port Dover Pipe Band.

The parade starts at 1:30 pm and will also feature the Colour Guards of several local Legions, Girl Guides, Cadets and dignitaries.

A reception at Branch 605 will follow the ceremony.

Please join us in remembrance of this historic battle.

LEST WE FORGET.
