100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF VIMY RIDGE
Commemoration Ceremony April 9, 2017 in St. George
Please join Branch 605, Royal Canadian Legion, St. George, and the South Dumfries Historical Society, as we commemorate the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge.
By April 12, 1917 Canada had suffered 11,000 casualties including 4,000 who made the supreme sacrifice.
The special Vimy Ridge ceremony takes place the actual day of the battle, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the cenotaph.
Preceding the ceremony will be a short parade from the Fire Hall down to the Cenotaph featuring the Paris-Port Dover Pipe Band.
The parade starts at 1:30 pm and will also feature the Colour Guards of several local Legions, Girl Guides, Cadets and dignitaries.
A reception at Branch 605 will follow the ceremony.
